Why Worry When God Is On Your Side?

shawn-savage-150-150He Has Made This A Promise.

Tomorrow is never promised to us. Another second on this Earth has not been promised to us. What has been promised to us is the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2:38-39, “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”’ (NIV)

Quite often we are worrying about how we look, our clothes in the closet, how our hair looks, and/or how our car look. We worry about things, tomorrow, and forget about what we already have and needs to be done today. Our minds continue to focus on the worldly things of life instead of the supernatural ones; it is our nature, our sinful nature. Without the Holy Spirit it is very hard if not impossible to even understand a glimpse of God’s super-nature. It is only when we invite Jesus into our lives and He sends His Holy Spirit to dwell with us that we start see a flicker of the supernatural. We can look back and see how God interacted in our lives before we were a part of the Body of Christ Jesus. How many times God carried us through the hard times, put a smile on our face, and protected us. When we read His Word, the mysteries start to be revealed. How many times have we heard a sermon preached and still did not understand the Word because we did not have the Holy Spirit to give us the discernment and understanding?

To be a Christian means that you have given your life to Christ, to be His Disciple and Ambassador, to learn His ways and words, and to imitate Jesus and teach others the same. Matthew 6:33-34 states, “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. ‘Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”‘ (MSG) Start looking at your life today, right now, and seek what God wants you to do right now, not tomorrow.

Stop worrying about if what you have is good enough. Stop worrying if your clothes are too old. Stop worrying if your shoes have holes in them. Stop worrying if your car is clean enough. Be thankful that you have things! Be thankful that you have clothes! Be thankful that you have shoes, holes and all! Be thankful that you have a car! Put your trust in God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to take care of you today, tomorrow, and forever until He is ready to call you home.

If God called you today, would you be ready to stand in front of Him or will He catch you worrying about things and tomorrow?
