Thanksgiving Summary

“Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters” (ESV).

Our Creator

The book of Genesis reveals that God created the Heavens, the Earth, everything, and everyone it. Yes, that includes you and I! In thanking our Lord and Savior for His glorious grace, we stand in agreement that He deserves all the glory, honor, and thanksgiving for His work in not only creating us but providing for us. His works are marvelous! We thank Him not only for yesterday and today, but also thank Him for the future blessings as His word promises, as long as we are obedient.

God is really good and as we gather with family and friends we should increase our levels of thanksgiving and thank Him for His blessings! Thank Him for His vision, and move in faith to accomplish it. Think of the blueprint of the vision he has established in your heart. Thank Him for trusting you with His resources to accomplish His project. Thank Him in advance for the spiritual resources (even though they may have not yet manifested) to allow you to complete His vision. Acknowledging God, thanking Him in advance will create breakthroughs and He will bless you by releasing spiritual resources to assist you in finishing His good deed. As you seek God’s will, He will help you. Remember in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18 states that our Lord will be with us until the very end of age. The age has not ended so He is here with us. Can you respond to your calling without being afraid? Yes you can! Trust in God, do your part and He will work it out at His will.

Christian discipleship process begins at home. God’s children of all ages should create or take advantage of every opportunity to sit around and engage with His word and increase individual levels of understanding. Spiritual fulfillment empowers us to advance toward our Lord’s desire and meet His goal and engage in proper thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving to our Creator

Pertaining to Thanksgiving and according to Psalm 95:2: “let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” (ESV). We should enter His presence thanking and praising Him. The book of 1 Peter 4:7-9 state “The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling” (ESV). We should be in control of our actions and show hospitality that means no arguing or complaining. Why are we upset at the beauty of God’s creation? Why not find something that we can admire, despite the situation, and thank God for that? The book of Colossians 2:6-7, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,  rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving” (ESV). We should thank God for allowing us to faithfully walk on His path knowing tht He leads the way.

The book of Philippians 4:6 state, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (ESV). Being patient God will bless us according to His will. The conversion of thanksgiving can be found in the story of Saul in book of Acts. Acts 19:17-19 states “So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened.(ESV) Spiritual filling! Shout praises to the Lord for removing those scales that have been blinding us and thank Him. According to Psalm 145:2-3 “Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable” (ESV). We should praise God’s name EVERY day! Have you blessed our Father today?

The book of John 34:35 state “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (ESV). We can obey God’s commands and be His disciple by loving one another. He loved us so much that He sacrificed His ONLY son. The book of Psalm 50:14-15 “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me”

Thanksgiving Celebrations

During the past few months, many of us have planned thanksgiving celebrations not only to fill our earthly bodies with home-cooked meals, but also to fellowship with other individuals. The Scripture also informs us that we should sacrifice thanksgiving onto the Most High, not ourselves, but our Lord, the one who delivers you in the day of trouble. God can remove us from danger in ways that only man can imagine. Pertaining to the most important commandment in the book of Mark 12:29-31, Jesus states that “The most important is, The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all of your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these” (ESV). Throughout the series, we have discussed the importance of thanksgiving, giving thanks to God, and loving each other. There are several ways we can revere God and giving Him all the glory and Honor. Through our prayers and worship, we glorify God telling Him that we have faith in knowing He will answer our prayers. God hears our thanksgiving prayers and Songs of Praise. His word gives reveals how we should engage in prayer and worship.

Daily Thanksgiving

The annual Thanksgiving celebration quickly came upon us and has left just as rapidly (maybe for some and not others). As disciples of Jesus, the Thanksgiving celebration is a daily not annual celebration. Let us challenge each other to GO, make more disciples. During any family and friends gathering, let us keep the conversations to reflect peace, humility, and an awareness of the expectations of our Heavenly Father. Get in the mindset to start rebuking ALL negative thoughts pertaining to anyone or anything. Rebuke it with your favorite biblical verse. It could be the verse reminding you that you can do anything in Christ who strengthens you, reminds you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, or cast your cares on the Lord, and allow Him to lead the way. Let Him lead you through the thanksgiving celebration. As He manifests, and if you invite Him in He will attend, He will give you an inner peace and spiritual meal no man can provide. During our lives we have as situations present themselves that are not of God, we have to cast our cares onto God and focus on His will. Though we may not understand why people act certain ways, we must know that is part of the process. We all have to go through our processes. We thank God for being our Father and working with us all as we all listen to His instructions and follow His word.

Eternal Thanksgiving

Why should we thank our creator?

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters” (ESV). We provide thanksgiving for our Creator as He created everything under the heavens and the earth. Yes, He did!

Keep God first, continue Giving Thanks, Singing Songs of Praise, and raise your Thanksgiving level of praise as He leads the way! Praise the Lord!!! Keep God first and foremost in your life and continue to engage in eternal Thanksgiving to our Lord. We thank you Heavenly Father, we give you all the glory and the honor. We thank you for all the blessings you willingly bestow upon us. Thank you for being the Alpha and the Omega, encircling us, keeping us wrapped tight under your protective cover. As your children, we seek your face always and thank You for loving and creating us in Your image. Blessings in the name of Jesus!
