Man and Woman are Equal

1 Corinthians 7:14 “For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy” (NIV).

Although we are equal in the eyes of the Jesus Christ, many times we are not treated equally or treat each other equally. It is very hard to find a husband or wife when we are seeking them through our natural eyes; we must look upon each other as God sees us with Spiritual eyes.

Jesus sees what is our hearts our hearts because He operates in the heavenly realm with Spiritual eyes not with natural eyes. 1 Corinthians 15:44-45 states, “…it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So it is written:  ‘The first man Adam became a living being’; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit” (NIV). We must also stop looking at each other with our natural eyes.

The bible has many passages that seem to degrade women because of the sin Eve committed. This may be one of the contributors of low self-esteem. The book of Proverbs is filled with many passages that cut down women; however, in the final chapter of Proverbs, it asks a very important question. Proverbs 31:10 states, “Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies” (NKJV).

If you have the Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus operating in your life, and you take the time to listen to His guidance and wisdom, you can find a virtuous wife like I have; she too will have the Holy Spirit operating in her life. In the same chapter of Proverbs, it gives all the details that make up a virtuous woman, one with noble character and she will not be like the normal woman. Proverbs 31:29 “Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all” (NKJV).

If God has given you a wife or husband of noble character, count it as a blessing. If your wife or husband has fallen short of what makes a virtuous woman/man, count it as a blessing as well. We must never forget that He has put us together for a reason and only He knows that reason. Each of us must stay focused on His will for our lives and continue to seek God’s guidance for us. We can be the one that sanctify our spouse if they are unwilling to be purified by the blood of Christ.
