Is Iron Sharpening Your Point?

Get your point sharpened!!! Proverbs 27:17 states, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (NIV).

Are the people you are hanging around sharpened or dull? If we are constantly conversing with those with dull points and if Jesus is not first in their life, then they may be making your point dull. As we are going out and making disciples for Christ, we need to be around like-minded people that have the Holy Spirit operating in their lives. We can shut the mouths of the foolish with God on our side and with like-minded people the act can be multiplied.

Deuteronomy 32:30 states, “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up” (KJV)?

With God on our side we can chase a thousand, but with God and another, we can chase ten thousand; this number just keeps multiplying by ten thousand as we increase our numbers with sharpened points.
In order for one person to sharpen the point of the other, they must be a disciple of Jesus Christ and have faith. If we are not His disciple and have faith, then we cannot get the discernment of His Word and learn how to sharpen others.

Romans 10:17 states, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (KJV).

This means we must go and preach the Word so that they can hear, but the person we are talking to will not understand the message we are conveying if they do not have the Holy Spirit giving them the discernment. They must first confess their sins and invite Jesus into their lives so His Holy Spirit can operate in their life.

Romans 10:9-10 states, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (NIV).

Ask the person if they believe in Jesus Christ. Ask them to confess it with their mouth. Then let the Holy Spirit sharpen their point as you give them the Good News so they will start sharpening your point as well.
