Disciples and Ambassadors

AFCRadioShawn-160-241-031120132 Corinthians 5:20 “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God” (NIV).

What does it mean to be reconciled to God and become His Ambassador?  First to be reconciled to God, you must accept Him as your lord and savior, repent, and ask Jesus to come into your life. Jesus died for our sins, even ones we have not committed yet, and only through Him can we reach God. Secondly, in order to be an Ambassador for Christ, we must become His disciple. In Matthew 28, Jesus gives us His great command for us to go make disciples.

A Disciple and Ambassador for Christ submit themselves to being taught. You must be teachable to be a disciple; taught how to follow Jesus. This teaching can come from God, or a Pastor, minister, Bishop, the Pope, or even a little child, but our hearts have to be willing to receive the words and then learn those words ourselves. An Ambassador for Christ, just like a Disciple, will continue in the ways of Jesus Christ and learn exactly how Jesus walked daily then do as He did in His ministry of Loving God, and Loving your neighbor. Finally, we do exactly what Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (NIV). I want God in my life forever, how about you?

Once The Holy Spirit is invited into your life, He takes over and starts to reveal God’s Word and Will to you, The Holy Bible, where you can start to understand it. Without The Holy Spirit operating in your life, the meaning is hidden from you, the parables that Jesus uses sounds like foolishness. When reading the Bible, you think it contradicts itself, but once you are saved, you feel the blood of Jesus boiling in your body, you feel The Holy Spirit descend upon you like a thick oil, His Anointment covers your body from head to toe. It reminds me of my favorite Bible verse that I did not truly understand until I became a Disciple. Psalm 133, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (KJV).

Even though I had received salvation, I was not studying the Word, I was not being taught the Word, and I was not willing to go anywhere to be taught. I would quote this verse all the time when I was with my boys, hanging out in the clubs, at house parties, even family functions. The true meaning of Psalm 133 was not revealed to me because I was not yet His disciple. I had not given my heart to God so that He could write His laws on it. Until we are ready to give Him our fullness, our body, mind, and soul, we cannot reap the blessings God has waiting for us. We need to be with other people of like mind, one in Christ and dwell with them. Then we will feel His anointment upon us, we can become His Disciples, His Ambassadors to go out and make more Disciples. Until I was willing to let go and let God, I was lost in the world. I finally asked God what was His will for me and He answered.

I love these pictures, beausce through them I see LOVE,HOPE, TRUTH and EVERLASTING LIFE WITH MY SAVIOR. The pictures of his CRUCIFICTION tells me that if he could endour all the pain and humiliation, then so can I. You are not worshiping the pics, but seeing what our LORD went through for all of us. We were made in HIS IMAGE and COLOR HAS NO MEANING IN HIS EYES. I am Native American and in our language that He gave us, HE is Wanka Tanka, The Great Spirit, Our Creator. All he wants EVERYONE to do is LOVE ONE ANOTHER and TELL OTHERS ABOUT HIM. Thank you Great Spirit for your Unmerciful Treatment, I am waiting for you to return. God Bless Everyone.

I don’t see in scripture how Matthew 28:19-20 applies to me. We need to take scripture for what scripture says and in Matthew 28:16 it tells us who Matthew 28:19-20 applies to. I do not see the body if Christ there, only the 11 disciples.

      Blessings Alex,
The first thing I will suggest is to talk with your Pastor about the Great Commission and our duty to spread the Good News to the ends of the Earth. You may not see further than the 11 Disciples within this passage; however, when you take the Ministry of Jesus Christ as a whole, reading and studying the Old and New Testaments, and allowing the Holy Spirit to give you discernment of the Word of God, you should see it very clearly. We are all to be Ambassadors of and for Jesus Christ.

In John 17 after Jesus prays for His disciples He then says this:
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Then we see in the book of Acts and the remaining of the NT what we are supposed to do as followers of Christ Jesus.
Acts 2:38-39 says that the gift of the Holy Spirit is for all and not just those the Apostles Baptized personally.
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

We must have faith and believe that Jesus Christ dies for all and not just a few. If He died for all then all must repent and be baptized. If all must repent and be baptized, then all must hear the Word of God. If all must hear the Word of God, then we must do our part and spread the Good News, the Gospel, the message of Christ Jesus. It may not be your mission to leave your area, go to a foreign land, or even a different city or state, but we can all declare Jesus is Lord to whomever He puts in our lives; at the grocery store, the movies, on the bus, in a Taxi, etc. Just make sure you are doing what He has willed for your life and continue to bless Him in all you do.

      God Bless, Shawn

Great to be first a follower of Jesus Christ. Paul said “Follow me as I follow Christ which is an indicator he was looking for persons that were teachable and of course I would highly suggest being empowered by the Holy Spirit. It’s not worth it is the Holy Spirit is not the leader as well as the teacher.
